Greg Moss to Speak at Steel City SQL Meeting
Doozer's Greg Moss will be speaking to the Steel City SQL, the Birmingham Chapter of PASS, in Birmingham on Tuesday, February 15th at 6 pm. Greg Moss is the SQL Server Practice Lead at Doozer Software.
Topic: Effective SQL Server Space Management
This presentation expands upon the basics of database space management covering space management from a system-wide perspective (relationship between the Operating System, physical disk, and database) focusing on data collection and interpretation techniques that facilitate "effective" space management.
Greg Moss has been working in the IT field since 1982. He has specialized in the scalability and performance of highly available systems running on Microsoft SQL Server databases. He was a founding member of Microsoft's SQL Server Support organization. He was also a pioneering member of the Premier Support Catalyst teams which later became known as ROSS. He was chosen by Microsoft to head the performance analysis and tuning efforts when Microsoft SQL Server competed against Oracle in the TPC-C benchmark tests. As Microsoft's first and most utilized SQL Server ROSS Engineer, Greg has performed several thousand site visits over his 15-year career with Microsoft. He was also a founding member of the SQL Server Center of Excellence responsible for the advanced SQL Server Certification training currently available from Microsoft. Greg has worked on systems for many of the Fortune 1000 companies and was chosen as the Enterprise Systems Architect assigned to DELL Computers in Austin, Texas. Greg successfully completed over 700 SQL Server RAP (Risk Assessment Program) deliveries and mentored other ROSS Engineers delivering this service to most of Microsoft's Premier Customer base. Greg's passion for SQL Server has resulted in many white papers and tools currently incorporated into the actual Microsoft SQL Server product.
